Recently the Obama administration renamed Alaska's Mount McKinley to its original native name, Mount Denali. Many Alaskans have always called it Mount Denali, but it has made a movement called: The Denali Effect.
The names we know for the Yamakiasham Yaina (Cascade) Range volcanoes aren't the first. Every major volcano from British Columbia to California was once known as something else. European explorers and settlers renamed them without thought to the people who had been living in the area for thousands of years.
Imagine if someone moved into your home town and renamed everything after things significant to them (but not to you). That's what happened to much of the geography of our country.
I created "The Denali Effect" collection to hopefully open the eyes of some and pay tribute to others.
